I knit. I fret. I muse about being part of a bi-cultural family. Occasionally I ponder politics and religion. Astoundingly, I get paid to think and write about Nordic literature and film.

Blah. Not a good day to look at other peoples' glowingly fabulous blogs. Nothing went right today. Off to bed.

Musikk
Today I was really lacking in motivation at work. It was a hard weekend family-wise, and I have a bunch of really tight deadlines. All that is getting me down, so I decided to escape a bit, and found my way to some old favorites on YouTube. I've been collecting some of Eivind's favorite songs on his website, so I thought I should do the same thing here. So here's a random selection:
"The Christian Life" by The Byrds. The fact that I'm a hard line atheist may make this choice appear paradoxical, but the fact is this song has fascinated me since I was a kid. It came out in 1968 on the album Sweetheart of the Rodeo, which my Dad played all the time.
Then there's Odd Nordstoga's "Lause ting," about the difficulty of getting motivated to take responsibility and become an adult.
"The Littlest Birds" by the Be Good Tanyas. Such a beautiful song!
And another perfect song from the late sixties:
I guess the common denominator is that they're all kind of mellow and wistful. Perfect for when I'm in a bit of a brown study.
