Actually, I sympathize a lot with John McCain in this snapshot, as he apparently caught himself heading the wrong way off the stage last night. I do things like that all the time, and usually have much the same expression. Of course that doesn't mean I'm going to vote for the guy.
By the way, I finished the purse in time for my trip to Decorah, Iowa for a conference. I'm not wild about the color, but the shape of the purse is perfect for my purposes. I made it much shorter than the pattern. Here it is, in all its wonky, neophyte-crocheter glory:
